BioI live in a big old house in westchester county with my remarkable little girl (b. Dec. '99,) adoring (and adored) husband, and sweet little dog (female, Westie.) We love to travel and take every chance we get (we try to take as many international trips as possible in an effort to see as much of the world as is possible) and my daughter is the best travel companion you could ask for -- always up for an adventure!
I was one of the original NY punks back in the day (and oh, what astonishing days they were...) I worked in nightclubs and the infamous Manic Panic (the US' first punk boutique.) Through the clubs and MP I was lucky enough to meet just about everyone on the music, fashion, and art scenes at the time. At that time I also became a hair and makeup artist, and worked mostly doing things like fashion shows in nightclubs and music video and film shoots.
In the mid 1980's I designed and manufactured lingerie and clothing (there was a full page of one of my most popular items featured in one of Rolling Stone's "What's Hot" issues!) under the name "The Countess" and sold through various trendy East Village boutiques (like Manic Panic and Patricia Field.)
After getting disgusted with the hair/ make-up and fashion design businesses, I started a flea market business selling mostly vintage clothing and accessories, with some housewares, books, and toys thrown in. I then opened a brick and mortar shop in NYC's West Village selling vintage clothing, accessories, new cosmetics, and wigs.
Most recently I owned an internationally recognized witchcraft supply shop, and co-authored a non-fiction book on how to create your own magickal spells ("Spellcaster, Seven Ways to Effective Magic" written under my nom de plume, Morgana SidheRaven.) I am a third degree High Priestess and considered an elder by the community. (I prefer not to use my "title" even though after nearly 30 years study and dedication to the Craft I have certainly earned that right.) I have been featured in numerous interviews in magazines, newspapers (print as well as electronic), t.v. (one of the t.v. channels the shop was featured on was the BBC!) and film, and have penned contributions to a handful of popular books. Both myself and my shop have even been fictionalized into two novels! I am currently working on another non-fiction book, and have several feature articles for mainstream periodicals in the works.
Enjoying my family's company are my most satisfying activiites. My most recent hobbies include: redecorating our house so that I can actually utilize my fabulous vintage finds, thrift shopping for more finds, home renovations (I am a staunch DIY'er from way back,) travel, reading, knitting, sewing, and writing.
